Cecily Lo (she/they) is a Los Angeles-based multi-hyphenate creative whose work blends genre with offbeat humor, emotional depth, and a surreal visual style.
Her work often explores themes of identity, systemic dysfunction, and the absurdity of modern existence, while spanning a wide artistic breadth — from video installations on Catalina Island to harrowing, intimate dramas and offbeat, in-your-face rock and roll music videos. Her VFX and editing work has recently been screened at the Beverly Hills Film Festival and the American Cinematheque. Her music video Freakout Handshake (for the band HUSHMONEY) has been featured in the Toronto International Music Video Festival, LA Music Video Festival, and several others. During her graduate studies at USC’s Film & TV Production program, she received the Runner-Up Faculty Award for Excellence in Editing, the Samuel and Lorenza Gary Memorial Scholarship, and multiple external post-production grants for USC thesis films. With a background in film editing, VFX compositing, and motion graphics, Cecily brings a strong visual sensibility and technical fluency to her directing work. Her storytelling is character-driven, grounded in unexpected worlds, and aims to entertain, unsettle, and occasionally implode reality.
